Award-Winning Stone Barn Wedding Photographer
Stone Barn in the Cotswolds has a great layout, unbelievable views, and the perfect mix of cool industrial features and luxury touches. The vibe of the place is spot on! Cripps & Co have really knocked it out of the park with this epic venue, which has to be right up there in my top three in the country.
When Phoebe and Josh booked me as their Stone Barn wedding photographer, I was counting down the days like kids do to Christmas! The corrugated iron roof, aged oak beams, and Cotswold stone (it’s in the name after all!) provide loads of interesting opportunities for Stone Barn wedding photography. There’s natural light from huge doors, a twinkly hallway lined with fairy lights, and of course, the glow from the firepits in the evening. They really know how to put together a mega party here, and the food… THE FOOD is out of this world!
Heads up, I actually won a ‘Story Award’ for a collection of photos from this wedding from the lovely people at This is Reportage – Get in there!
Stone Barn Wedding Photography – Phoebe and Josh
I started my day with Josh and the lads at a nearby cottage - they were in good spirits (not a hint of a hangover, honest) as they got into their Paul Andrew suits. There was even time for a quick pre-wedding haircut! Once they’d worked out how to wrestle their orange pocket squares into place, I captured some relaxed photos of them in the garden before they got on their way to the Stone Barn.

Friends and family were gathered in the Stone Barn, and Josh was nervously awaiting Phoebe’s arrival. Floral arrangements from Vervain Floral Design were placed around the chairs, candles and fairy lights lit up the stone walls in front of the fireplace – I love the ceremony setup here, because guests face towards the aisle on either side, which means everyone gets a great view!
“The moment we first saw each other was genuinely such a special and magical moment, and we are beyond grateful to have had every second of it captured.”
Josh was holding it together pretty well, but as soon as he saw Phoebe he was in bits, and that set everyone off! Their ceremony was short and sweet, with some emotional and personal vows, followed by applying a wax seal to a letter to their future selves. There were a few more tears when they exchanged rings and a kiss, before walking out of the barn as husband and wife to cheers and applause from their friends and family.
Champagne and confetti
After a quick glass of champagne, Phoebe and Josh walked back through the barn to get showered with confetti. There was a proper buzz to the whole day, and as everyone enjoyed hugs and drinks, I worked away to capture candid photos of those moments.
“You have an amazing talent for finding all the angles and always being in the right place, while also seemingly disappearing into the background.”
Stone Barn weddings have the benefit of loads of space, so everyone can spread out, making the most of the indoor and outdoor space for those long-awaited chats and catch-ups. I made sure to sneak inside and photograph some details of the room setup for their wedding breakfast, full of colourful flowers, candles, and plenty of disco balls!
I arranged some group photos in front of the oak doors, then took Phoebe and Josh for a short walk around the gardens to get some portraits while the guests found their seats for the wedding breakfast. The mezzanine level bar overlooks the whole room, so I found myself the perfect viewpoint up there to photograph their entrance.
Speeches, more emotion, and FOOD!
I’ve mentioned it already, but the food here is top-notch! Everyone refuelled with a fab feast at sociable banquet-style tables, and the entire room was buzzing with conversation. When it came to speeches, there were loads of hilarious moments, and it was great fun capturing people’s animated reactions in Phoebe and Josh’s Stone Barn wedding photography.
“Your focus on people, personalities, relationships, and reactions was incredible.”
Again, because there’s so much space at this awesome venue, guests could chill on the terrace, grab drinks at the bar, and take selfies outside overlooking the rolling Cotswold hills, or just stay at the tables continuing their chats. There’s no need to ship everyone out to change the room over, so it’s a really easy and natural transition into the evening celebrations.
An evening of fun and dance-floor chaos!
We wandered along the driveway for some portraits in the last of the golden hour light, with the Stone Barn in the background under a stunning summer sky. Cutting their cake, a masterpiece from Relish Vegan, surrounded by all their favourite people (who were cheering their heads off!) was a great start to the evening, and their first dance was followed by total dancefloor chaos!
Soul Factor are a band of super-talented musicians that can keep the floor filled with partying for a whole night. The lead singer was out on the dancefloor, there was a conga, and SO much jumping around. Phoebe snuck away to change into a Nadine Merabi evening dress to surprise Josh (the guy was speechless!) and joined everyone to dance the night away – it was a MEGA night.
